Abstract
Waste is one of the environmental problems that requires the provision of adequate waste storage facilities based on the amount of waste generated and the conditions of the location. This study aims to design precast concrete waste bins that meet the requirements based on the results of observations and measurements of waste generation on Bathin Alam Road, Sungai Alam–Antara and Panglima Minal Road, Bengkalis. The method used in this study was a field survey and measurement of waste volume for seven days at several observation points. The measurement data were then analyzed to determine the waste generation volume as the basis for determining the capacity and dimensions of the waste bins. The results showed that the average combined waste generation from both road sections was approximately 4.571 m³/day, with the highest volume recorded at Observation Point 4, amounting to 0.985 m³/day. Based on the analysis results, a rectangular precast concrete waste bin was designed with a length of 2.42 m, width of 1.50 m, and height of 0.75 m, resulting in a storage capacity of 2.7225 m³. The capacity provides a safety factor of approximately 2.76 times the highest design waste volume. The design also includes calculations of concrete volume, element weight, reinforcement requirements, and the determination of the number and distribution of waste bin placement points. The proposed design is expected to provide stronger and more adequate waste storage facilities that are suitable for the needs of the study area.
