Dry bulk loading and unloading is a critical aspect of vessel operations, directly influencing service punctuality, the efficient use of labor and equipment, and the smooth distribution of cargo. The research addresses the following questions, What factors cause delays in the dry bulk loading and unloading process on KM Putri Mulya III (Selat Panjang)? What are the primary obstacles faced by workers during these operations? and What measures can be taken to boost productivity and minimize delays in the dry bulk loading and unloading process on KM Putri Mulya III (Selat Panjang)? A qualitative descriptive research method was employed, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation.
The findings indicate that while the dry bulk loading and unloading operations on KM Putri Mulya III (Selat Panjang) generally function well, they have not yet reached optimal efficiency. Several obstacles contribute to this, including delays in loading and unloading, labor shortages at specific times, weather conditions that disrupt operations, and suboptimal coordination during cargo handling. These issues result in increased vessel waiting times and reduced operational efficiency.
