Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) parameters on the joint strength of ST37 steel. The research utilizes three main parameters: welding current (100A, 110A, 120A), groove type (V, X, K), and electrode type (E7018 ∅3.2). The testing was conducted using the Destructive Tes (DT) method, specifically the bending test, to assess the mechanical strength of the weld joint. The results show that variations in welding current and groove type significantly affect the joint strength. The most influential welding parameter on the mechanical strength of the joint was found to be the V groove with a current of 120A, yielding the highest average joint strength value of (21.75). Conversely, the lowest value in the bending test results was obtained with the K groove using a current of 110A, with an average joint strength value of (17.35). These findings provide valuable guidance for welding practitioners in optimizing parameters to achieve strong joints with minimal distortion in the weld.
