Abstract
This study aims to analyze the procedures for managing ship safety certificates. One of the crucial aspects in ship operations is the ownership of a valid safety certificate as proof of operational feasibility and legality of the ship. Each certificate has a certain validity period, and delays in extension can hinder the issuance of the Sailing Approval Letter (SPB), which has an impact on the delay in the ship's departure schedule. The data collection methods that will be used include observation, interviews, and documentation studies, which aim to obtain accurate and relevant information. The author will also identify how the procedures for managing ship safety certificates are. Therefore, this study provides some thoughts that timely management of ship safety certificates is very important to prevent operational delays. Inspection of ship safety equipment by a marine inspector is a key factor in the issuance of certificates, where inconsistencies or expired equipment can delay the issuance of sailing permits. The location of this research will be carried out at PT. Div Samudera Abadi for 2 months from april to may. The results of this study indicate that the process of obtaining cargo ship safety certificates at PT. Div Samudera Abadi has been carried out in accordance with established procedures, with the existing system helping to facilitate administrative processes. However, several obstacles were still found, such as incomplete documents, expired document validity periods, and safety equipment that did not meet standards. PT. Div Samudera Abadi is able to address these obstacles promptly to ensure that the certificate issuance process is not delayed and to contribute to improving maritime safety.
