Abstract

The purpose of this Final Project is to analyze the implementation of K3 in the Palm Kernel Expeller loading process and identify potential safety risks and environmental pollution at Dumai Port. Dumai Port is one of the main ports in the export of Palm Kernel Expeller. In the loading process, the implementation of K3 Occupational Safety and Health standardsis very important to reduce the risk of accidents, health impacts for workers, and environmental pollution due to Palm Kernel Expeller dust. The methods used include field observation studies, as well as interviews with related parties. The research has been carried out for 3 months, from March to May. The results of the study indicate that: 1) The process of loading Palm Kernel Expeller at Dumai Port is carried out through several stages, starting from weighing the truck, queuing to enter the dock, transporting the load
to the hopper, then the load is flowed into the ship using a conveyor. The implementation of K3 in the field is not yet fully optimal. 2) The implementation of K3 Safety during the
loading process has not been implemented thoroughly. There are still workers who do not use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consistently, and dust control is not optimal. Risks such as respiratory disorders and work accidents still occur. 3) Efforts to optimize the implementation of K3 have begun, such as providing personal protective equipment, installing safety signs, and spraying air to suppress dust.
