Analisis Faktor Penyebab Kecelakaan Lalu Lintas Di Kabupaten Bengkalis Dan Upaya Penangulangannya

Traffic accidents are a serious problem in Bengkalis Regency, especially with the increasing population, the need for vehicles also increases. Bengkalis Regency is an area with a fairly high accident rate. This study aims to analyze the dominant factors causing traffic accidents in Bengkalis Regency and provide recommendations for mitigation efforts. The method used is a quantitative approach with data analysis using Microsoft Excel and SPSS version 25. The data analyzed covers five years from 2020 - 2024. The results show that human factors are the dominant cause of accidents with a contribution of 96.8%, from the correlation analysis shows a significant negligence factor in influencing the number of accidents (r = 0.973; p = 0.005), engine damage (r = 0.940; p = 0.018), and potholes (r = 0.948; p = 0.014). These three factors have a very strong and significant relationship to the number of accidents. Meanwhile, other factors such as high speed, Microsleep , and brake failure show a weaker or statistically insignificant relationship. Based on these results, it is concluded that accident prevention efforts in Bengkalis Regency need to be focused on increasing traffic awareness, vehicle maintenance, and regular road repairs and maintenance by relevant agencies
