Abstract
This study aims to analyze the operational process of a 3.5 MW Diesel Power Plant (PLTD) at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper Perawang as a backup Power source (Emergency Power supply). The analysis includes the working principle of the 4-stroke Diesel system, main components, and the flow diagram of the start-up and shutdown system operations. This study also evaluates the synchronization stages, Power distribution, and technical and non-technical constraints that occur during operation. The analysis results show that the PLTD system plays an important role in maintaining the continuity of plant operations, especially when there is a disruption to the main Power source. The start-up and shutdown processes are carried out in a structured manner, with an automatic synchronization system that supports efficient integration into the main network. However, several constraints were found such as load fluctuations, delays in spare parts, and high fuel consumption. The conclusion of this study states that although the PLTD has high reliability, it is necessary to improve fuel efficiency, monitoring systems, and regular Training for operators. Suggestions are to strengthen maintenance management, optimize fuel consumption, and improve technology-based monitoring systems to maximize and sustain plant performance
