Abstract
This research discusses the operation of the control valve on tank PF1A in the Vacuum Evaporator unit at PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Perawang. The control valve functions to maintain the liquid level stability in PF1A, ensuring that the evaporation process runs efficiently and safely. The control system consists of a transmitter, controller, and control valve, which operate automatically in a closed-loop system.The experimental results show that the relationship between the valve opening percentage and the measured electrical current is linear, following the 4–20 mA control standard. At the fully closed position (0%), the current is 4 mA, while at the fully open position (100%), the current reaches 20 mA. This confirms that the control system operates normally and accurately represents the valve opening condition.With this system, the evaporation process stability can be maintained, risks of overflow and underflow are minimized, and energy efficiency is improved. This study also highlights the importance of regular maintenance and calibration to ensure the long-term reliability of the control system
